Sofia Gagliardi '26 Selected All-Delco Girls' Soccer Player of the Year

Senior trisport athlete Sofia Gagliardi '26 helped lead EA girls' soccer to an incredible season that included the Inter-Ac and PAISAA Championships.

She has been named Delco Daily Times Girls' Soccer Player of the Year.

During her junior season, Sofia jumped in to play outside back to fill a critical need, and she made her presence known, firing in 11 goals and tallying 13 assists during her final season.

After graduating several key players, Sofia walked in to senior season excited but realistic about the challenges ahead.

"I think the first game or two, I remember talking to [Coach] Fraggos and being like, wow, I have no idea how this season’s going to go,” Sofia shared with the Delco Daily Times. “We came off two losses, and then we went to McDonough [School] and we almost tied them, and they’re obviously a great team, really high ranked in the country. And that was kind of the moment where I was like, ok, we’re going to be able to be really great in the Inter-Ac if we can pull this together.”

The squad went 12-0 in Inter-Ac play, avenged its loss the previous season against the Westtown School in the PAISAA finals, and finished the season 19-3-1 that included nine shutouts and 39 goals scored.

As the season progressed, Sofia recalled, "It really just felt like a click. It was just a great feeling to have Coach Fraggos see those results and have our younger girls see those results. And even me seeing those results, I was like, ok, this is going to be a really different but great season.”

Teammates Taylor Moore '28, Caitlin McCarthy '26, and Caroline Johnston '26 also earned All-Delco First Team honors.

Sofia runs indoor track and has committed to play lacrosse at the University of Maryland.
