Junior Shortstop Sophia Santinelli Named Main Line Athlete of the Week

Junior shortstop Sophia Santinelli is having a standout season at bat and in the field. She's tallied 22 home runs to date, has a career batting average of .619, 101 hits, 96 runs scored, and 86 RBIs. Sophia has been selected Main Line Athlete of the Week.

Sophia is always working on her game. "As one of the leaders on the field and especially in the infield, I am working on reading the batter and adjusting based on their swing," explained Sophia. "Being at shortstop, I have a pretty good view of the hitter, and I am trying to pay attention to the little things they are doing while in the box. Whether it is their stance, timing, or swing, I am working on communicating with the other girls on the field and letting them know where I think they should position for the given batter and shifting them accordingly."

Sophia also competes on the varsity swim team, is on the Community Service Executive Board, and is a member of the Med-Scholars Club and Girls in STEM.
