Class of 2025 Celebrated at EA's 240th Commencement

The Class of 2025 was celebrated on Thursday, June 5, at EA's 240th Commencement exercises.

The ceremony took place in the Class of 1944 Chapel as 132 seniors were presented their diplomas and Bibles.

Students were recognized for their accomplishments and congratulated by Dr. T.J. Locke, Hon., Head of School; Fr. Tim Gavin, Hon., Head Chaplain; Mike Letts, Hon., Head of Upper School; and Max Kelly '06, Class of 2025 Form Dean. This year’s student speakers were valedictorian Elle du Pont and salutatorian Stevie Combs.

“Episcopal has taught us not to be complacent nor to conform to one standard but to be open to new opportunities and to embrace the uncertainty that new possibilities bring,” shared Elle du Pont. “We have learned that there is always more to learn and do. All doors are open to those who dwell in possibility.”

“This isn’t just a school; it’s a network of interconnected individuals who genuinely care for and support one another, creating a welcoming embrace that has been our constant companion,” reflected Stevie Combs. “The defining characteristic of the Class of 2025 has been our unwavering support for one another.”

Dr. Locke praised the class for "creating an environment that feels good to walk into every day—where students are engaged, where faculty are energized, and where there's a sense that we're all pulling in the same direction. That doesn't happen by accident."

Several special awards were presented, the handcrafted Class of 2025 shield was unveiled, and students proudly sang the school song, Episcopal, Episcopal, before processing out as the newest class of EA alumni. Students will attend 87 colleges and universities in the fall.

"Not every environment you encounter will be like this. I don't think most schools are like this. EA really is a special place," Dr. Locke told graduates. "As you move forward, I hope you'll carry with you the joy that makes life bright, and the seriousness that gives it meaning. If you can hold onto both, I believe you will indeed lead lives of purpose, faith, and integrity." Watch here.
