Honoring Our Retiring Faculty and Staff

Three members of The Episcopal Academy community will retire at the end of the school year with a combined 86 years of service.

"Our retiring faculty and staff have made an indelible mark on the EA community," said Greville Haslam Head of School Dr. T.J. Locke. "We thank these incredible individuals for their unwavering dedication to EA, and wish them joy as they move on to the next chapter in their lives."

Retirees will be recognized during EA's end-of-year faculty and staff closing dinner.

Debbie Castiglione: 25 Years

After 25 dedicated years as administrative assistant in The Roger Annenberg Memorial Library, Debbie Castiglione will retire at the end of this school year. Debbie has been instrumental in supporting four directors, 21 librarians, two AV experts, and countless community members in her role. In addition to helping to execute the complex move of materials to the Newtown Square campus, Debbie helped establish an ongoing framework to keep library systems running smoothly. Ginny Spofford: 30 Years

Ginny Spofford, who has inspired hundreds of our Lower School students throughout the past 30 years, will retire at the end of this school year. A welcoming and beloved teacher, Ginny has always celebrated the uniqueness of every student. She has also consistently focused on honing her craft, willing to try something new if she thinks it will benefit her students. Recently, her efforts to create engaging projects that develop collaboration and problem-solving skills resulted in Ginny being named a 2018-19 D’Ambrosio Fellow. You will be missed, Ginny!

Bernard "Byrd" Miller: 31 Years

Following 31 years of helping our campus operations run flawlessly, Bernard “Byrd” Miller will retire after this summer. From overseeing mail and package deliveries, to setting up and breaking down for events, to assisting with grounds work and snow removal, Byrd is involved in so much behind the scenes that keeps EA humming. He was recently recognized with the Staff Excellence Award for his dedication. Congrats, Byrd!
