Annual Can Drive is Underway

The school-wide Can Drive kicked off on Friday, Oct. 21, with members of the Vestry performing a motivating skit during Upper School Chapel.

Students in all three divisions are encouraged to participate. Donated items will be accepted until Tuesday, Nov. 22.

"Each grade in the Lower and Middle Schools is being paired with an EA community partner, most of which operates a food pantry," explained Community Service Coordinator Becky Brinks. "Over the next few weeks, students will be connecting with their partner to learn more about their specific needs and how we can contribute with intention."

PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students will support the Providence Animal Center. Second and 3rd grades are partnering with the Chester County Food Bank. Fourth grade is supporting the Great Valley Food Pantry. Fifth graders will collect items for the St. James School Welcome Table. All donations can be dropped off in students' homerooms.

Sixth grade students are partnering with Memorial COGIC Food Pantry in Haverford, while 7th grade will support ACLAMO and 8th grade will collect items for Feast of Justice. All Middle School donations should be dropped off in students' homerooms.

Upper School will support SHARE and St. Mary's Church in Chester. Freshmen are asked to bring in soup and pastas. Sophomores should focus on protein products (peanut butter, tuna fish, beans), while juniors are encouraged to contribute toiletries. Seniors are asked to bring in cleaning supplies. All Upper School contributions should be dropped at the Chapel.

"We hope this year's Can Drive will bring in quality items for our partners and will raise awareness of the food insecurity facing many parts of our region," said Father Tim Gavin, Hon. "Our gratitude can transform into generosity as we support our many community partners."
