Inter-Ac & PAISAA Championships for Softball
In an impressive pitching duel, the softball team hung on for the win (3-0) against Springside Chestnut Hill to win its fifth consecutive Inter-Ac title on Friday, May 8. Captain Sophia Santinelli '26 (shortstop) was named Inter-Ac MVP.
On Friday, May 22, the team showed its grit and strength again as it played past the Hill School to win the PAISAA Championship (7-2). Hill jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, "But EA stayed composed and locked in defensively, knowing there was plenty of game left," said Assistant Coach Kiley Straub. "In the second, Dominique Barrist '27 scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to one. Later, Sophia Santinelli came through with a clutch sac fly to left field to tie the game at 2–2. In the Inter-Ac final, EA got on the board early in the first inning with singles from Eva Stafiniak '29 and Dominique Barrist. The offense added a key run in the fifth on a sac fly from Sophia Santinelli '26, and Sofia Foulds had a strong day at the plate, going 2-3 with two clutch singles.
Maia Contreras '27 was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout.
The PAISAA tournament got underway on May 14, as the squad dominated Mercersburg Academy (12-0) in the quarterfinal round.
In the semis on May 19, the team tallied another shutout (2-0) against an impressive Germantown Academy team. It was a battle at the bottom of the third when Violet Stanek '28, with the bases loaded, ripped a line drive to center field, bringing home the two runs of the game. Maia, again, tossed a shutout, allowing only three hits and striking out nine,
In the final game of the season, "Maia was outstanding once again, going all seven innings while allowing just two hits and striking out six," said Coach Straub. EA softball ends the season 20-1.
