5 Middle Schoolers Participate in PMEA District 12 String Fests

Five Middle School string players participated in recent Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) String Fests, held in February and April. These events bring together advanced orchestral musicians from District 12 for a full day of intensive rehearsals, culminating in an evening concert.

Elizabella Lee '30 and Jason Li '30 participated in the PMEA District 12 7/8 String Fest on Feb. 5 at Radnor Middle School, while Alana Fiedler '32, Margaret Wu '32, and Yejin Youm '32 took part in the PMEA District 12 5/6 String Fest on April 9 at Owen J. Roberts High School. During the events, EA's student musicians had the opportunity to work with Danielle Garrett and Adriana Linares, renowned conductors and musicians from the Philadelphia area.

"Both concerts were a great success, and these young musicians found the experience both challenging and rewarding," said Middle and Upper School Orchestra Director James Finegan, Hon. "The students did a wonderful job, and this was a great opportunity for them to meet other string players in the area and learn how to play in a large ensemble. The sound of the entire group performing together was remarkable. Please join us in congratulating our student musicians!"
