What is your favorite thing about teaching at EA?
My students are my favorite part about teaching at EA. Their joy and their excitement for learning are contagious. I love how every day is a new day with them - a new day for new learning, new excitement, and new growth.
What are you involved in at EA outside of teaching?
I teach some of Excel's on-campus, after-school enrichment programs, such as Messy Science, Dr. Seuss Club, and Pokemon Club.
What is your favorite lesson or unit to teach?
I love teaching our fantasy reading unit to my classes. We read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe together, and my students are on the edge of their seats until the end of the book. We talk about symbolism and explore deeper concepts such as character growth, stereotypes, and lessons we can learn from plot lines.
What lessons do you hope students walk away with from your class?
I hope my students leave my classes knowing that they will be successful in their academic careers. I want them to know that I believe that they can set high goals for themselves and achieve those goals through hard work and determination.
