Nick Mead '13 launched his rowing career at EA as a freshman. After success on Princeton University's rowing team and the Men's National Team, Mead is now representing the United States at the Tokyo Olympics in the Men's Heavyweight 8+.
The first heat for the men's eight is July 25, followed by the repechage heat on July 28. Qualifying teams will row in the finals scheduled for July 30.
With the postponement of the 2020 Olympics, due to Covid, Nick continued to train with hopes of being selected for the 2021 team.
"There were a few months where there was a lot of uncertainty," Mead shared with the Delco Daily Times. "Some people decided to move on with their lives. ... It's just hard to stick with it when there are a lot of other things in your life. A lot of people had to make that decision."
