Kyle Virbitsky '17 Drafted by the Oakland A's

Kyle Virbitsky '17 has been drafted by the Oakland A's.

The standout pitcher, and EA tri-athlete, was taken in the 17th round, 518th overall.

Virbitsky told the Delco Daily Times, "It was a sigh of relief," especially after a challenging year. "It's a tough draft and a tough year with COVID and everything going on. I was just really excited to get an opportunity with an organization that I think is a good fit for me, from everything that I've heard. It seems like a really good spot to play in and I'm just excited to get going."

During his playing career at Penn State, Kyle made 52 appearances and 19 starts- notching 161 strikeouts in 153.2 innings. In his final college season this spring, he collected five wins with 88 strikeouts in 77.2 innings.

Virbitsky heads to Arizona in late July to join the A's draft class. "I'm just excited to get down there and live out this dream. Hopefully, I'll climb the ladder and make it to the big leagues."
