Jazz Ensemble Performs at Berklee High School Jazz Festival

The Jazz Ensemble recently participated in the 51st Annual Berklee High School Jazz Festival in Boston.

"Students attended a jazz concert at Sculler's Jazz Club, where they enjoyed the music of Maurice Brown," explained Band Director Ryan Dankanich, Hon. "The students also performed for a panel of judges comprised of Berklee College of Music faculty and observed other high school bands, college bands, and professional clinicians."

This year's Judges' Choice award for superior musicianship, within the ensemble, was awarded to baritone saxophone player Nicholas Cerone, '22.

Student musicians from 133 high schools attended the festival held on Saturday, January 26. This marked the 10th year that EA has attended. Because of a lack of funding from the Berklee School of Music, this is the last year that the festival will be held.
