Jack Hurda '24 Helps Lead Baseball Team to Championship Tournament

Eighth grader Jack Hurda's baseball team is heading to Florida after winning the 13U Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in May.

"Winning this tournament makes us eligible to play in Florida for the world series of baseball and gives us the chance to bring home the United States championship," explained Jack. The team went 5-0 in the May tournament- scoring 64 runs.

"This team is loaded with talent. I can't say enough about my teammates, they played their hearts out and we did what we needed to do," explained Jack. "It's was a great feeling to win the game and tournament because now we have a chance to be the best in the country. With that said, we have some work to do before we head to Florida."

Jack plays first base and is a left-handed pitcher.

"I love playing baseball because you are going to fail more than you are going to succeed, but you have a group of 10 other guys that are ready to pick you up and get the job done," said Jack.

The championship tournament will be played in Ft. Myer, Florida June 26 - July 4.
