New Girls' Volleyball Program

Volleyball is coming to The Episcopal Academy. The new program will be rolled out as an additional sports option in Middle School starting in the fall.

"Volleyball is such a popular sport, and we know we already have students who want to play," said Athletic Director Todd Fairlie, Hon. "Volleyball is the only Inter-Ac sport we do not compete in, so the league is really happy about our decision."

In addition to a Middle School team, plans are underway to offer introductory sessions or clinics for Upper School students throughout the year. "Beyond that, we plan to have a JV program in 2025-26 and should be able to compete at the varsity level within the next three to four years," said Coach Fairlie. "Every school in our league fields a varsity and JV, and Middle School teams. That is very unique and not many sports are like that."

Assistant Athletic Director Katie Duffie oversees EA's Middle School athletic programming. "The Middle School is a great place to start because there is always interest and it's a chance to generate more buzz and focus on the fundamentals of the game and grow the game the right way," explained Mrs. Duffie.

In the future, volleyball will be a fifth sport to compete in during the annual EA/AIS Day. "Nobody likes a tie," said Mrs. Duffie. "It's a chance to have five sports that will mimic EA/Haverford Day and another opportunity to have our female students impact the day and experience the joy and excitement in the culminating event of the fall."
