Girls' Tennis Wins Inter-Ac Title

The girls' varsity tennis team won the Inter-Ac title after a 6-1 win over Germantown Academy on Thursday, October 5. "Despite the score appearing a bit one-sided," shared Head Coach Whit Powell, Hon., "the match was anything but, with three matches being decided in three sets."

Coach Powell attributes the winning season to hard work and team cohesiveness. "I never measure success by wins and losses but by how we play and compete each and every day. I told the girls that the only important match is the next one and each opponent deserves our absolute focus," said Coach Powell. "A lot of new players added to the team this season that brought a wide variety of talents and abilities. This, combined with a strong work ethic and desire to improve, led to great success this season."

The team record is 6-0 in league play. The overall team record stands at 10-1, with one loss to Conestoga High School (6-1).

The team has several non-league matches on the schedule before the season ends with EA/AIS day on Friday, November 10.

"The goal remains the same no matter where we are in the season and that is to get better each and every practice and match," shared Coach Powell. "Our team motto this year was 212 degrees. Be one degree better than you think you can be."
