Going into the Friday, September 6 game, #5 Northeast was undefeated, and had not allowed an opposing team to score in its first 11 consecutive quarters. The Churchmen quickly changed that statistic. "Their 11 quarter shutout streak would end on our first possession of the game as a big play by senior Brian Virbitsky set up a touchdown pass from senior quarterback Maurcus McDaniel to junior Malcolm Folk," said Varsity Head Coach Todd Fairlie.

Northeast responded with a touchdown to tie the game, 7-7. At the half EA led, 20-7. In the fourth quarter, Northeast scored again (20-13). But on the kick off junior Aiden Chavis came up with a huge kick return into Viking territory. Quarterback McDaniel finished the drive with a touchdown to make the final score 26-13.

Maurcus McDaniel told PA Prep Live, "All game, I felt like I was in the zone." He was 11/13 for 123 yards and scored two touchdowns. Read more coverage by PA Prep Live here.

"It was a character win for the program," said Coach Fairlie. "It was never easy and the team battled for 48-minutes to come out on top. We look to clean up a few things and get better this week as we host The Hill School on Friday, September 20."
