Bedrooms, basements, family rooms, and home hallways served as backdrops for Honors Acting students final projects.
"This exceptional group of students has really risen to the challenge of studying a performing art online," shared Theatre and Dance Director Chair Dan Clay. "Lucky for us, they finished their partner scene studies before we left for quarantine, so we've been working on their final solo portfolio project: Monologues."
During the semester, each student developed at least two monologues in their repertoire, one classical and one contemporary, one comical and one dramatic. "Peer feedback was essential to this process," explained Mr. Clay. "Thinking specifically about what others are doing well and what they are challenged by is really essential to one's own growth."
Student actors in the honors class include: Nicholas Bernabei '20, Erin Boyle '20, Morgan Bramwell '21, Will Hopkins '21, Katie Locke '22, Dom Minicozzi '20, and Arnie Shiva '20.
"Those who plan to continue auditioning in college or locally can send a video or perform a live version of a monologue with little or no preparation," said Mr. Clay. "It was refreshing to work with a class who were willing to dive in and keep the momentum going even though we were at home looking at each other on screens."
