Field Hockey Heads to PAISAA Finals After O/T Win

The field hockey team is heading to the finals of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) tournament after an overtime win (2-1) over rival Academy of Notre Dame on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Notre Dame scored first- five minutes into the game. With 12-minutes remaining in the half, sophomore Ashley Sessa fired one in to tie it up, 1-1.

"We always have memorable games with Notre Dame and they are always tenacious," said Coach Gina Buggy, Hon. "Wednesday featured two strong high school teams engaged in an up tempo game with lots of skills on display."

Both teams came out fully charged for the second half. Regulation play ended in a 1-1 tie. During 7 vs. 7 sudden death overtime, senior tri-captain Kathleen Anderson shot in the winning goal to secure the win.

"I am so proud of our effort and teamwork. It truly was a total team effort!"








The championship game will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 2:00 p.m. at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken. The team will face #1 seed The Hill School.

EA field hockey won the independent school championship last season after a dramatic shootout against Germantown Academy.
