EA Field Hockey Players Help USA Sweep Canada

The U.S. Rise National Field Hockey Team swept Canada (4-0) in the U18 competition, and EA field hockey standouts Charly Bruder '23 and Macy Szukics '22 helped lead the way.

After competing in Chula Vista, CA in February, Charly and Macy were selected to the Rise Women's National Team. Since their selection, the duo attended monthly training camps. After the April camp, the EA players were included in the 24 out of 36 players named to the roster for the series.

"The experience was terrific as we were surrounded by great players and amazing coaches," shared Charly. "This was an excellent opportunity to show off all of our hard work, as the road to the team was not easy, but it was all worth it in the end. We were able to connect with girls from around the country and interact with the Canadians."

The series consisted of four games that were played May 11-14 at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken.

"It was an honor to be able to represent my country and to wear the USA uniform while competing against Canada. The experience was unforgettable," said Macy. "I walked away with key learnings from this experience that I can carry forward when I play at Duke this fall. I am truly grateful to have been selected, for the opportunity to represent the USA, and to have contributed towards the team's success."

Charly and Macy each fired in three goals during the series.

Over the summer, the team will compete in Virginia Beach at USA Field Hockey's Young Women's National Championship. Players will compete against the current Women's Senior National Team, the Women's Development Team, the U-21 Team, and recommended college players.

"It's the best players in the country!" said Macy.
