Celebrating our Retiring Faculty and Staff

Eight members of The Episcopal Academy community will retire at the end of the school year with a combined 244 years of service. Retirees will be recognized during EA's virtual end-of-year faculty and staff closing dinner.

"The impact that our retiring faculty and staff has made on the EA community cannot be overstated," shared Greville Haslam Head of School Dr. T.J. Locke. "We wish them all the happiness in retirement."

Leslie Trimble: 13 Years

For 13 years, Leslie Trimble has made a significant impact on science at EA. She single-handedly created our Environmental Science curriculum, helped design the Sid Buck Community Garden, and spearheaded transformative service programs with EA community partners. She is a founding coach of the MS rowing program, and loves helping to coach US girls' golf.

Marilyn Kistler: 23 Years

Lower School science teacher Marilyn Kistler has sparked scientific curiosity for 23 years. Marilyn's dedication to teaching and passion for the environment have contributed toward exciting outdoor lessons, highly engaging classroom experiences, and inspiring discoveries among our youngest learners. Marilyn has been a thoughtful presence in the classroom, as well as a positive and helpful colleague who is always happy to lend a hand

Dr. Julie Faude, 24 Years

For 24 years Lower School Psychologist Dr. Julie Faude has helped students explore their emotions in a healthy way, worked with faculty to deliver differentiated educational approaches for a variety of learners, and partnered with families to navigate life's many transitions. Julie is both a true expert in her field and a true joy to all she encounters.

Ellen Milewski, 28 Years

Ellen Milewski has played a pivotal role in the Head of School's office for 28 years. As administrative assistant to the past three heads of school, Ellen has provided steadfast service and consistent support. She has worn many hats, from calendar coordinator, to problem solver, to Christmas cookie distributor.

Tom Kossuth, 33 Years

Throughout the past 33 years, Tom Kossuth has inspired thousands of students as an exceptional math teacher, welcomed hundreds of new families to EA as director of financial aid, and mentored many new faculty members. Having coached every season for many decades, in football, basketball, golf, and baseball, Tom may hold the record for coaching the most student-athletes in recent EA history.

Paulette Petrie, 37 Years

Paulette Petrie has taught generations of EA families in the Lower School for 37 years. Paulette showers her students with love, making each one feel special. In recent years, she has embraced reading and writing workshop, and worked to shift her teaching techniques in order to benefit her students' experience. Her students emerge from her classrooms as both curious and confident learners. It is no wonder that alumni regularly request to stop by her classroom while visiting campus.

Nancy Evans Reinhard, 38 Years

Nancy Evans Reinhard has built a remarkable and incredibly impactful career over the past 38 years at EA. Embracing the ideals and mission of our school in everyday actions, Nancy has enthusiastically welcomed every role she was asked to serve throughout the decades: Coach, athletic director for girls' programs, assistant head of Lower School, head of Lower School, and – her favorite – teacher. A masterful teacher, she empowers students to embrace the power of curiosity and live The Stripes.

Joanne Crystle, 48 Years

For nearly five decades, Joanne Crystle has been a valuable member of EA's music department. Early on in her EA career, she served as an instrumental music teacher for our Lower School and then transitioned to a substitute teacher and accompanist. Joanne has accompanied under eleven current and past music faculty, performing during hundreds of musicals, concerts, Chapels, closing ceremonies, and more. When she accompanies, she focuses on supporting the student musicians, always keeping them front and center, while interweaving melodic lines that perfectly convey the musical message.
