Annual Can Drive Yields 10,000+ Items

EA students and their families lived the Stripe of Generosity during the annual Can Drive and Turkey Collection.

Students in Lower School donated 3,548 cans while the Middle School contributed 3,239 cans. Upper School students, who were assigned specific goods by grade, donated 4,018 items.

"EA's annual Can Drive helps hundreds of families in need throughout the region," explained Father Tim Gavin, Hon. "This year, our community heeded the call and generously donated 10,805 cans and personal items!"

More than a 50 turkeys were also collected and helped provide a meaningful Thanksgiving dinner for families connected with EA's partner organizations- St. Mary's Church in Chester, the Great Valley Food Cupboard, and SHARE. "Providing families with an item that can be the center of a family meal or gathering gives the 'birds' a much deeper meaning," said Community Service Coordinator Becky Brinks.

"Our 12-day blitz to end hunger was a success and offered help and hope to many who are dealing with tough circumstances," said Father Tim. "The annual Can Drive and Turkey Collection are an important EA tradition. A heart felt thank you to our generous students and families."
