Student Activities & Leadership

Build a robot. Win the debate. Publish your writing. Or simply relax with friends.
At EA, educating the whole student in Mind, Body, and Spirit means balancing rigorous academics with a wide variety of inclusive extracurricular opportunities. EA's 50+ clubs meet during and after the school day, giving students of every interest the space to get involved, learn something new, express themselves, and lead.

However, many of EA's clubs reach far beyond campus, from Model UN participating in the 40th Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC) to many of our Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) student researchers advancing to state-level competitions. Through engagement in activities outside the classroom, students connect with their peers, their school, and the greater community on a deeper level.

Spotlight: Lilley Fellowship

A signature academic program at EA, the Lilley Fellowship Fund awards two research opportunities to Upper Schoolers who exemplify scholarly passion. With the traditional Fellowship, the selected students devise their own initiative with a faculty mentor and later present to their peers in Chapel. The Advanced Independent Study is a graded, honors-level course in which a student creates their own curriculum around a topic in conjunction with faculty and later presents to administrators. These experiences are included in the student's portfolio and reflected in the recommendations submitted by college counselors.

Student Leadership

Students who participate in Student Council, Chapel Council, Service Board, and Vestry shape school culture as leaders among their peers. EA's Esse Quam Videri (EQV) Society is composed of 10 EA seniors, elected by students and faculty, to cultivate a positive school culture and grow the leadership capacities of the members.

Scholarly Clubs and Competitions

Clubs like Junto (debate), Mock Trial, DECA, and Model UN empower future leaders in law, business, and government to sharpen their critical thinking, master persuasive communication, and build meaningful networks.

Publications and Arts

From editing the Epolitan arts and literary magazine or Scholium student newspaper, to hanging student art in the gallery and brushing up on improv skills, EA's publications and arts clubs allow student creativity to soar.

STEM Clubs and Competitions

Students level up their passions in STEM with opportunities ranging from competing in the highly successful Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) and robotics teams, to participation in the annual, on-campus STEMposium.

Interests, Culture, and Belonging

EA's inclusive clubs and student unions provide students with connection about shared interests and opportunities for community involvement. From Pop Culture Club to Young Independents to French Club to everything in between, there is a place for everyone.
