EA’s Office of DEI is thrilled to offer new education and affinity opportunities for Episcopal Academy parents and caregivers as part of our commitment to belonging: SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity), EA's Asian Identifying Families Group, and EA's Black Identifying Families Group.
Commitment 10
Prioritize the community goal of inclusivity by auditing all events and engagement opportunities, providing multiple ways for the community to gather together, and developing family and community education programming.
Improving the major systems of the school will be essential, but barriers to inclusivity are often more subtle than these systems. We must work together to eliminate these barriers; educate our full community on the relevant issues; and celebrate those who contribute positively to the community’s inclusive culture.
To achieve our goals, the Episcopal community must collectively embrace habits of mind that ensure continual reflection and self-examination. Every event and area of school where we engage with students, families, and guests must be evaluated based on principles of equity and inclusion. Each time members of the Episcopal community gather together is an opportunity to ensure we are meeting our commitment to DEI.
