Varsity Wrestling was back on the mats with enthusiasm and grit which led to a rewarding and successful season. Twenty wrestlers, with a wide variety of experience levels, were led by a strong team of seniors. The squad finished 12-12 in duals, collected plenty of hardware from tournaments, and placed six wrestlers in the top seven at the Prep States tournament. Five wrestlers qualified for The National Prep tournament. Flynn Kearney ’22 ended his EA wrestling career with 100 wins.

2020-2021 Season Recap:

The team competed in two league festivals with no team scores kept. Wrestlers did well in their 6-8 matches. “Our captains, Bo Aldridge and Derek Coleman, led by example and were incredibly positive and the entire squad embraced a ‘can do’ attitude,” reflected Coach Damon Kuzemka. “They all were excited to be on the mats and took personal responsibility for following the protocols that allowed us to train.” The National Prep Tournament also held a spring competition. “The daily training sessions this winter were great, all the guys worked hard and everyone showed improvement and grit under very difficult circumstances,” said Coach Kuzemka. “While frustrating at times, the determination of our boys to complete a season under the circumstances leaves me incredibly proud of them.”
