A Proud History

Founded in 1785 by members of the first Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, The Episcopal Academy has a rich history steeped in academic tradition.

Through the centuries, Episcopal has transformed from a small schoolhouse in Philadelphia to our current sprawling campus in Newtown Square that boasts state-of-the-art academic, arts, athletic, and spiritual facilities.

Through so many changes over 230 years, some things remain the same: our dedicated faculty, challenging academics, and unwavering commitment to challenge and nurture Mind, Body, and Spirit.
