Our Core Values: The Stripes

We show our Stripes on our sleeves—and in all we do.

EA's 10 core values, called The Stripes, are both the foundation of our curriculum and the embodiment of the qualities that we aspire to live by. 

The Stripes are taught and demonstrated every day. Their presence across campus, from the sleeves of our school sweaters to the walls of our classrooms, reminds us of who we are and what we believe in as a community. In Lower School, students learn about one Stripe each month. By Upper School, students cite these values as their guiding principles to ethical decision making. 

The Stripes are present each day at EA when students and faculty members greet each other in the hallways or in class. They're present in the dining hall and in Chapel, as well as on the sports fields. My favorite Stripe is Respect. I think it involves many of the other Stripes and is something I try to practice each day in order to learn more about others and the world. Joy
