Differentiation through Formative Assessment
June 13, 9:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Part of the Excellence in Teaching Series; $125 per workshop or $325 for all three workshops.
Session Leaders: TeachThought / John McCarthy
During this entry-level session, teachers will learn 10+ strategies used to support differentiation of learning. All strategies are versatile for use in multiple subjects and grade levels.
Participants will also receive a foundational understanding of the key principles and elements for effective differentiation. This foundation can be used as part of a school’s plan to implement systemic differentiation. By the end of the session, participants will have developed 1-2 lessons using differentiation for immediate use in classrooms, and the confidence to use many tools to support all learner needs.
Through this workshop, participants will:
- Learn to meet the needs of ALL our learners through differentiation.
- Understand a common language framework for professional planning and implementation of differentiation.
- Explore and evaluate strategies to meet all learner needs based on the 6 Elements of Differentiation.
- Develop several “Crossroad” lessons that incorporate “Intentional” differentiation based on Readiness, Interests, and/or Learning Preferences.
