Algebra I June 21 - July 30 -- $1200 -- Grades 9-12 -- 8:30 - 12:30
This six-week Algebra I course is open to students who have successfully completed a course in pre-algebra and who wish to begin their study of high school mathematics by completing a standard first-year course in algebra. Topics covered include: basic operations with variables, exponents, and radicals; the arithmetic of polynomial and rational expression; solving linear, fractional, and quadratic equations; graphing and writing equations for lines; solving systems of linear equations; and the quadratic formula. Homework will be assigned daily. Students will receive a mid-term and a final grade. This course is equivalent to a year of high school mathematics.

This six-week Algebra II course is open to those students who have successfully completed an Algebra I course and who have been encouraged by their school’s mathematics department to accelerate their studies. Building quickly on elementary algebra skills, students will work to master techniques involving: linear, polynomial, rational, and radical equations and inequalities; exponential and logarithmic expressions; complex numbers; and sequences and series. Homework will be assigned daily. Students will receive a mid-term and a final grade. This course is equivalent to a year of high school mathematics.

Art of Animation - June 21 - July 30 -- $110/week

Learn how to animate the fun, old fashioned way! Students explore a number of different animation techniques, such as drawn animation, flipbooks, and paper cutouts. They will write, storyboard, and finish both group and individual projects during the course.

Art Studio - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Students will explore a variety of media and possibilities using recycled materials. Applying the elements of art, both twoand three-dimensional projects will be developed. Students will be encouraged to stretch their imaginations and improve their skills.

Babysitting Red Cross Certification June 14 - July 30* $110/week Grades 5 - 9 12:30 - 2:00 This class will prepare students to become responsible babysitters. It will cover everything from routine childcare to emergency procedures including basic first aid. Students must complete all five days of class in order to be certified as Red Cross Babysitters. Each student will receive The Red Cross Babysitting Handbook and a certificate after completing the required hours of instruction. Students must be at least 11 years of age. *No class the week of July 6- July 9.

Baseball Clinic July 6 - 9 -- $110/week

This clinic will focus on the basic fundamentals of baseball: rules of the game, warm-up techniques, hitting, and fielding. Students should bring a glove, cleats, sneakers, and a water bottle and should wear athletic clothing. Students in grades 5 through 8 can participate in either portion of this clinic or from 12:30-3:30.

Basketball July 12 - 16 -- $110/week

This clinic will focus on the basic fundamentals of basketball: rules of the game, warm-up techniques, and station work (defense, shooting, ball handling and rebounding). Students should bring a water bottle, non-marking sneakers, and should wear athletic clothing. Students in grades 4 and 5 can participate in either portion of this clinic or from 12:30-3:30.

Basketry is the oldest and most widely practiced of all crafts. Students will learn basic weaving/twining techniques and create a basket with their individual style. Materials will be provided.

Breakfast Bunch - June 14 - July 30 -- $30/week

Students may arrive any time between 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. for a continental breakfast and supervised activities, games, puzzles, and quiet reading. Full Day students may attend without charge, but must enroll in this class on the registration form to be included.

Cartoon Studio - June 21- July 30 -- $110/week

Do you enjoy reading the comics in the newspaper? Have you ever thought about creating your own cartoon series? Whether you fancy yourself a superhero or a political cartoonist, this class can help you get started! Learn the process of cartooning and comic strip writing from idea to finished product in this studio course. The class will work on brainstorming, drawing techniques, peer critiques, and will create a class project each week.

Ceramics Studio - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Clay is a great, tactile medium that many kids have never experienced before. Its three dimensional nature forces them to think about structure, shapes and forms. In this ceramics course, students can experiment with a variety of building techniques while they learn to think about their ideas and adapt to change along the way. The course will focus on handbuilding, glazing and firing. Each Friday students will focus on alternative 3D sculptural forms.

Chemistry -June 21 - July 30 -- $1200

An intense full-year credit course covering college prep chemistry, including lab work and a qualitative analysis lab project. Not for the faint of heart! Homework will be assigned daily. Students will receive a mid-term and a final grade. This course satisfies the prerequisite requirement for AP chemistry and is equivalent to a year of high school science.

Circus Skills - June 14 - July 30 $110/week

This class will build your child’s hand eye coordination and body awareness in a new and exciting way. Children will learn to juggle scarves and balls, balancing and plate spinning, toothbrush tricks and more, plus, basic balloon animals, a bit of mime and a variety of fun tricks and skills. A good time to be had by all!

In this class, students will work in groups to learn the art of basic cooking while incorporating principles of food knowledge, safety, and preparation. This comprehensive approach to cooking allows students to learn basic culinary techniques and develop their creativity using food as a medium for expression. Students will compile a number of recipes in a culinary scrapbook each week.

Creative Writing will provide students who love to write a chance to strengthen their own creative voices. Students will keep a writer’s notebook to collect ideas and develop works in several genres including drama, folklore, and poetry. There will be an emphasis on seeing the world like a writer and sharing written work with peers in an encouraging environment.

Cool moves and fun grooves using popular music. Students will learn a variety of dance techniques such as jazz, modern, and hip hop. They will have a chance to learn choreography from the instructor and create their own steps. Dancers may perform weekly.

Dance Tales - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Children love to move and to tell stories. Combining the two helps increase coordination and strength while encouraging literacy. Students will enact stories that are designed for movement activities; they will read traditional children’s literature and recreate the stories through movement, and they will create their own stories and dances.

Digital Photography - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

In this course, students will learn how to maximize their skills and the features on their digital cameras. They will also learn the artistic aspect of photography in terms of understanding light and composition in a finished photograph. Students will learn how to alter images and edit digital errors such as red-eye, and use computer programs to change background scenery. Students should bring their own digital cameras and memory cards.

Digital Tales and Stories - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Students will use Microsoft PhotoStory to bring pictures to life! Starting with a brainstorming session, students will create a digital story from start to finish, including scripts, pictures, narration, music, titles, and motion!

This one-week class will enable students to prepare, rehearse, and perform a production for family and friends. All students will receive a part in the production and work collaboratively with the class to stage the performance. Production themes will be drawn from classic children’s literature and fairy tales.

Drawing for Fantasy & Science Fiction - July 6 - July 30 -- $110/week

Drawing for fantasy and science fiction allows you to create your own vision of past, present and future. Learn techniques for drawing and painting fairies, dragons, elves, wizards, and more. This course will help you bring your creative fantasies to life, while creating your own imaginative art. This course can be used as a companion to the Storybook Writing course.

This is not your Mom’s Internet! Come learn about some of the cool, new Web 2.0 applications that will allow you to share ideas, build knowledge, and interact with others. We will experiment with free video and image editing tools, social bookmarking and photo sharing sites, collaborative note taking, brainstorming and diagramming tools, as well as just “fun to do” sites/applications.

English Grammar & Composition - June 21 - July 30 -- $110/week

This course is an excellent refresher course for middle school students. Topics include punctuation, parts of speech, usage, and basic sentence structures. Students new to Episcopal, as well as those struggling with basic grammatical concepts, would benefit from this course.

ESP Engineering Solutions to Problems - June 21 - July 30 -- $110/week

Students will have the opportunity to work as individuals and in groups to investigate and solve problems in a variety of disciplines. The emphasis of this course will be on the collaborative problem solving process in an engineering context. All materials will be included.

Ethics - July 6 - July 23 -- $700

This is an upper level elective that will satisfy .5 credit for graduation in Religion at Episcopal. This course begins with a careful survey of theistic and secular ethical systems, focusing on the characteristics of each system. Various approaches to decision-making and problem solving are examined as well. Students begin to develop their own ethical code based on the characteristics of each system that they deem important. In response to the question, “What makes human beings tick?,” students compose their own Doctrine of Self. As the course progresses, students apply the ethical systems studied to current personal, social, and political moral issues. The psychology of the individual and the dynamics of human relationships are considered, as well as how, in the sweep of history, culture impacts decision making and what is valued and not valued in our lives. The final section of the course investigates issues in legal ethics and in bioethics. The course is taught with an emphasis on critical thinking with a balance of lecture, discussion, civil discourse, and debate. Take-home essay evaluations and class participation are required. Students will receive a mid-term and final grade.

Fall Sports Preparation - July 12 - July 30 -- $110/week

Led by a certified strength and conditioning coach and an athletic trainer, this class will focus on developing increased power production and coordination to meet the demands of fall sports. Instructors will help you prepare your body for the stresses and demands of preseason and ultimately playoffs, by getting in optimal physical condition, specific to sport. Classes will include customized or assisted weight lifting sessions following agility, anaerobic conditioning, or flexibility sessions. Each day will have a specific goal, whether on-field agility, lateral conditioning, or linear acceleration.

Do you love clothes and accessories? Do you love to create and design? Taking inspiration from the world of fashion, students will use a collaborative process to arrive at their own designs and finished sketches with charcoal pencils, markers, and watercolors. All materials will be provided.

Fencing is a sport which combines technical skill with strategy and athleticism. It is a great way to enhance your balance and coordination. This class will focus on the basics of fencing including footwork and general physical coordination. Students who have mastered level I may move on to level II with approval from the instructor. Students who have taken Fencing previously and have earned their weapon should enroll in Level II, the 12:30 class. *No classes during the week of July 6 - July 9.

Field Hockey - July 12 - 16 -- $220/week

An experienced coach will bring her knowledge and passion for field hockey to EA for a week-long clinic for girls in grades 3 - 9. The clinic will focus on basic skills as well as game fundamentals. Players should bring their own stick, mouth guard, cleats, turf shoes, sneakers, and water bottle.

This course will address many of the issues and decisions relating to money that young people face in our modern society. Topics will include: different types of bank accounts, interest rates, basic money management, budgeting, and portfolio management. The curriculum was developed to help students learn more about managing their own money and to assist them in making informed decisions about their financial future. This course promises to be a profitable and significant asset in a student's portfolio of life skills.

First Grade Fun - June 14 - July 30 -- $220/week

Each week we will "visit" a country or geographical region. We will learn about the ring of fire, rainforests, the Great Barrier Reef, and much more. Students will have a chance to sample literature, culinary traditions, and arts and crafts from each area of study. From 10:45-11:30 daily, students will participate in special classes in movement, music, art, or drama.

Flash® Animation – Intro - June 21 - July 30 -- $110/week

Animation is simply the creation of sequential images (think comic books) that represent physical actions or ideas over time. These images can be hand-drawn, photo-collaged, or computer-generated. This class will lead the students through the process of creating computer generated animation from initial concept through final animation. Students will record simple audio tracks to accompany their projects. This course will be taught using Flash® on iMac computers.

Games Galore - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Traditional board games are great fun and a fantastic way to socialize with friends. Students will have the opportunity to play all of their favorite board games, compare strategies and tactics, and participate in informal or weekly tournament play.

Students in this course will be introduced to Apple’s popular Garage Band® software. Students will learn how to operate the program while creating their own musical compositions using the software’s built-in audio loops. No musical experience is necessary; this program is a blast for kids of all musical abilities!

Beginning with the basic concepts of point, line, and plane, the principles of logical reasoning and spatial relations are introduced through the study of geometric figures. Students strengthen their inductive and deductive reasoning skills by formulating and testing their own hypotheses. The techniques of formal proof are developed in the context of the study of congruent and similar polygons, parallel and perpendicular lines, area, and volume. Homework will be assigned daily. Students will receive a mid-term and a final grade. This course is equivalent to a year of high school mathematics.

At Par Breakers Golf Academy, we love golf and we love to see our students grow to love the game too! With drills and games that build basic fundamentals, we make golf fun to learn. This course for novice or beginning players focuses on the basic skills of guitar. Through the use of popular guitar music, students will learn how to strum, play chords, read TAB notation, and tune their instrument. Students are expected to provide their own acoustic guitar for this course.

Led by experienced coaches and EAAC swim instructors, this course is a great opportunity for kids to play cooperative group games on land and in the water. Students must be prepared to swim or play on land each day. Bathing suit, towel, sneakers, and a water bottle are required.

Students will spend their time moving between creative activities such as knitting, crocheting, embroidery, machine sewing, and crafts. Projects include: backpacks, flip flops, room décor, toys, fashion accessories, and more. Gender appropriate projects will be offered. Projects will be different each week.

Handwriting: Handwriting Without Tears® - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Lights, camera, action! Led by the Director of Communications at The Episcopal Academy, this course will introduce students to Apple’s popular iMovie® software. Students will learn how to operate the program, digital cameras, and video cameras in order to create their own movies. No experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided.

Students will “get in touch with their funny” playing creative, team-oriented games. Students will learn a variety of improv styles, giving them a chance to work with props, duos, and group scenarios. The class will perform each Friday.

This course is designed for band musicians with at least one year of experience playing a brass or woodwind instrument. The course will include a mix of individual and small group instruction, guided practice, and ensemble playing. The summer doesn’t have to mean dust on the instrument – it can be a great time to progress as a musician!

Introduction Laboratory Science - June 21 - July 30 -- $1500

Have you wondered what makes a firefly glow? How do scientists make human insulin in bacteria? If you are an inquisitive student, who would like to know the answers to these questions and how the knowledge you learn in the classroom can apply to real life situations, then this is the course for you! This class offers its students the opportunity to learn basic laboratory techniques and design their own exciting projects, using some of these techniques in medical research, laboratories and hospitals! Summer students will experience working in a laboratory setting, learning techniques such as those used in molecular biology, biochemistry, enzymology, and protein science. We will explore DNA and protein manipulations that scientists use on a regular basis. The course will teach students how to design and execute a series of appropriate experiments (within the confines of the course) to address their proposed hypothesis. This is an intense full-year credit course and is equivalent to a year of high school science. Prerequisites: Biology and instructor permission.

Inventing Basics - June 14 - 18 -- $110/week

A banking professional will lead you through this one-week crash course on investing – what it means to invest, how to invest, and even some practice investing. Students will use news tools such as newspapers and the internet in order to make informed decisions on any investment purchases. Students will also get practice at making trades in a modified version of the Stock Market Game®.

Jazz Funk Moving Studios - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

This class will introduce jazz funk dance technique to provide a well-rounded workout. Students will combine their favorite dance floor combinations with basic jazz funk choreography from the instructor to create routines to popular music. No prior dance experience necessary.

In this introductory course, students will learn the following techniques: wrapping, wire-bending, crimping, jewelry designing, and looping in order to create several original pieces of jewelry. All materials and equipment will be provided.

Students will have the opportunity to work as individuals and in teams to investigate and solve problems in a variety of forms. The emphasis of this course will be on the problem-solving process in a collaborative environment. Engineering problems may include bridges, egg drops, retaining walls, mystery machines, balloon cars, and rockets.

Junior Fitness - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Designed for children between K-2, this course will teach and reinforce how important and fun exercising can and should be! Children will cycle through stations such as jumping rope, jumping jacks, aerobics etc. With fun music playing and an enthusiastic teacher, children will have fun getting some good exercise every day! Students should bring their own water bottle and must wear sneakers and athletic clothing.

Keyboarding - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

In this beginning keyboarding course, the student will master touch operation on a computer keyboard. Correct fingering by touch and good techniques will be the primary focus, while speed and accuracy will be secondary.

KinderKids is a great way for students to get ready for kindergarten. Each week’s activities will be aligned with a theme or a piece of children’s literature. Activities may include arts, crafts, cooking, and drama. From 10:45-11:30 daily, students will participate in special classes in creative movement, music, or art. Students must be five years old to enroll.

Lacrosse for Boys - July 12 - 16 -- $220 /week

A varsity lacrosse coach from The Episcopal Academy will bring his experience and passion for lacrosse to EA for a week-long clinic for boys in grades 3 – 8. The clinics will focus on basic skills as well as game fundamentals. Players should bring their own stick, helmet, pads, gloves, mouth guard, cleats, turf shoes, sneakers, and water bottle.

Lacrosse for Girls - June 14 - 18, July 19 -23 -- $220 /week

The girls’ varsity lacrosse coach from Archbishop Carroll will bring her experience and passion for lacrosse to EA for two week-long clinics for girls in grades 3 – 9. Lap Swim The Episcopal Academy Aquatic Club - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Under the supervision of EAAC coaches, students will have the opportunity to get some exercise while staying cool in the pool. Students must know how to swim in order to participate. Students must wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. Students must also bring dry clothes to change into after swimming. A light breakfast snack will be provided during the morning session.

Latin I - June 21 - July 30 -- $1200
Grades 8 - 12 8:30 - 12:30
Although students new to EA can begin Latin in the fall, this summer course aims to allow new students to enter at the traditional Form III level, i.e. with Honors Latin II. At the end of Latin I, students will be able to translate simple Latin prose literally and accurately and to write simple sentences in Latin. In addition, students will know something about Greco-Roman culture, about the daily life of the Romans, and about the geography of Italy and the Mediterranean. Current EA students who have not previously had Latin may also take this course. EA students who wish to return to Latin after some time off may also find this a good refresher course. For new students or EA students who took Latin in Form I and II, this course is not offered for credit. For EA students who have not taken Latin or only taken it in Form II, this course is eligible for 1 credit. Students must pass a final exam with a B or better to qualify for credit or for admission to Honors Latin II.

It will review the basic grammar of Latin 1a, including nouns, forms and case uses, verbs, tenses, the active and passive voice, and the use of prepositions. It fulfills the summer work requirement for EA students.

Learn to Swim The Episcopal Academy Aquatic Club - June 14 - July 30 -- $110/week

Under the supervision of EAAC coaches, students will learn about personal safety and develop beginning swimming skills, strength, endurance, and coordination. Students must wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. Students must also bring dry clothes to change into after swimming. A light breakfast snack will be provided.

In this course, students will use Lego Mindstorm kits and software to explore problems and invent their own solutions. In this weekly class, students will have the choice of several items to sew such as pajamas, hoodies, skirts, dresses, quilts, bags, and so much more. Math - Honors Bridge - July 12 - July 23 -- $350/course

This course is a requirement for Episcopal students who have not completed the Honors Algebra 2 course at EA but wish to move into the Honors track of mathematics courses. Approved students may take the course during any summer after Algebra 2. Approval to take the course must be granted by the student's current teacher, Algebra 2 teacher, if different, and the mathematics department head. The course will include an extensive review of factoring all types of polynomials; graphing polynomial functions, rational functions and conic sections; analyzing and interpreting graphs; sequence and series; and the binomial theorem. There will be a culminating exam on the last day of the course. Approval for registration into Honors courses for the school year requires an A or better in Algebra 2 and Geometry, if Honors Geometry is not taken, approval of the mathematics department head, and succesful completion of the Honors Mathematics Bridge Course. Students wishing to take this course should speak with their current teacher and the mathematics department head.

The key to an athlete’s success is practice and physical conditioning. This class offers fun-for-all math practice and conditioning that will enhance critical thinking, problem solving skills, and overall math performance. This class will feature classic math games, card games, and logic puzzles.

Do you want to be a star? Can you see your name in lights? If so, this is the class for you! Students will prepare and rehearse musical numbers that will be performed each Friday. Each student will have a part, and they will spend their time acting, singing, dancing, and creating costumes.

If you are intrigued by mystery stories and movies and like to use clues to figure out "Whodunnit," this is the class for you! In this class, students will read and write mystery stories, learn about investigators and mystery solving techniques and terms. Forensic pathology and criminal profiling will be discussed as we try to solve the mysteries of summer 2010.

Are you naturally curious? Do you enjoy telling a good story? As newsmakers, students will learn how to develop a news program from its inception and lead to the writing, editing, and directing of news stories. The class will teach the students how to incorporate digital media into our campus wide technology system, ultimately producing a news program to be viewed by the Summer at EA community.

Peoples of The Book - June 14 - July 2 -- $700

Peoples of The Book will examine the common link of the three monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. We will explore the central texts of Hebrew literature, which will include selections from the Torah/Pentateuch, the historical books, the Wisdom literature, and the prophetic writings. We will also be reading selections from the Christian New Testament and the Koran. Our goal will be to see how these writings reveal God’s relationship and revelation to the western world. We will focus on the common roots as well as the diversity of the monotheistic heritage. The students will be encouraged to explore the impact that these traditions have had in our world as well as the meaning and relevance of themes and stories in their own lives. This course will satisfy .5 credit in Religion at Episcopal.

Pet First Aid Red Cross Certification - July 6 - July 30 -- $110/week

This class will prepare students to become responsible pet-sitters. It will cover routine pet emergency procedures including basic first aid. Each student will receive The Red Cross Pet First Aid Handbook and a certificate after completing the required hours of instruction. Students must complete all classes in order to be certified in Red Cross Pet First Aid.

Physics - June 21 - July 30 -- $1200

An intense full-year credit course covering college-prep physics, including lab work. Not for the faint of heart! Homework will be assigned daily. Students will receive a mid-term and a final grade. This course satisfies the prerequisite requirement for AP physics and is equivalent to a year of high school science.

Podcasting - June 21 - July 30 -- $110/week

Students in this course will be introduced to the world of podcasting. Podcasting is a way to distribute downloadable digital audio files via the internet for use on the listener’s computer or iPod. Each student will work to create their own podcast on a topic of their choice. Students creating podcasts have the opportunity to share with a potential worldwide audience.

Portrait Drawing & Painting - July 6 - July 30 -- $110/week

You see faces all the time, but do you know how to draw them? Learn the basic principles of drawing the human head and go from there to develop, interpret, or exaggerate to create portraits that are realistic or imaginative. Students in this class will explore handbuilding skills and glazing techniques under the direction and supervision of an accomplished potter. Students will learn to create and build pieces by hand using slab rolling, pinching, and coiling techniques. See for yourself how clay can be shaped and decorated to create fabulous works of art.

This course is open to students who have done well in Geometry and Algebra II and who want to enroll in a year-long equivalent, for-credit calculus course. This rigorous course in analysis develops graphing and problem-solving dexterity through the study of polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. Extensive use is made of the graphing calculator as a tool of inquiry.

An added component will be a review of the grammar portion of the SAT II test in English Composition as well as practice in writing the 20-minute essay required on that exam.

Softball for Girls - July 19 - 23 -- $220 /week

So...You Want to Start a Business - June 14 - 25 -- $220 /course

This two-week course will cover everything from why one would want to start a business to how one should execute their own business plan. Business plans, business banking, business finances, and even documentation needed in order to start up a business will be explored. This course will also cover different organization types, and the pros and cons of each.

Spanish – Honors Prep - August 16 - 20 -- $350

This course is a requirement for Episcopal students wishing to take Spanish 3-4 honors, who have not completed the Spanish 2 honors course at EA. The course will include an extensive review of grammar and vocabulary studied in EA’s Spanish 2 honors course, as well as several reading selections, and some writing assignments, in preparation for the depth and vigor of Honors Spanish 3. Along with summer preparation work, this course satisfies the pre-requisites for entering Honors Spanish. All students who register for this course must also pick up the summer packet from the Modern Languages department.

Spanish Explorers - June 14 - 25 -- $220/course

This two-week course will allow participants to explore the Spanish language and culture through art, dance, music, geography, games and food. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary. We will start our journey in North America by exploring the Mexican Pyramids, then we will move to Central America and explore Costa Rica's rain forest and the Panama Canal. The Andes will be the main focus in South America. The Alhambra in Spain and the Yunque National Park in Puerto Rico will be included as part of the Spanish speaking Caribbean. Works of Diego Rivera and Picasso will be introduced as well as music from a variety of styles. With this much to explore, we are sure to have a blast!

Don’t take the summer off! Led by a certified athletic trainer, this clinic will focus on strength and conditioning, speed and agility, coordination and flexibility, and injury prevention for all athletes. Students must wear sneakers and athletic clothing and should bring a water bottle.

In Storybook Writing children will use their imaginations to develop a story and publish it. By the end of each week, students can leave with a finished book. Storybook Writing is designed as a companion course to Drawing for Fantasy and Science Fiction, in which students can illustrate their stories.

This course is designed to help students learn strategies and sharpen skills to better prepare them for the upcoming academic year. According to Master Kwon, “Nobody sits on the bench in Martial Arts training.” Led by a black belt instructor, this course will introduce students to the basics of Tae Kwon Do while developing concentration, perseverance, balance, agility, and control. Led by a varsity coach from The Episcopal Academy, this clinic is designed to help young wrestlers improve and enjoy the sport of wrestling. Young wrestlers can prepare for their upcoming season with ample opportunity to improve and establish a solid foundation in all aspects of wrestling. Students should bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes.

Writer’s Studio - June 21 - July 23 -- $110/week

In this course, students will explore various types of creative writing from pre-writing to final draft phase. Possible writing genres include poetry, short stories, plays, speeches, and persuasive pieces. Students should expect to share their works in progress and take part in the peer review process.

A great essay is an important part of your college application. It is a chance to present the real you to the admissions staff. In this course, students will learn how to write a college essay from start to finish. Brainstorming, selecting the topic, writing the essay, and proofreading will be the focus of this class. Students will have the chance to read sample essays and essay questions.

Writing The Essay In Upper School - June 21 - July 9, July 12 - July 30 -- $600/workshop

This three-week course will center on the writing process. Students will learn how to pre-write, draft, edit, proofread, and finalize a written assignment. The assignments will require students to use the various patterns of paragraph development in order to express their ideas in a well unified and developed essay. The course will use a variety of reading materials as models of good writing and to initiate topics for assignments. Students will learn how to write an introduction to a thesis statement, a body of supporting detail, and a conclusion.

Writing Workshop for Middle School - June 21 - July 9, July 12 - July 30-- $600/workshop

This three-week course will teach students how to write more clearly and effectively through study and practice of the four stages of the writing process. Students will write, draft, revise, and edit their work in a variety of genres. The goal is to teach students how to approach the different assignments that they receive in school and become more independent, creative, and organized writers.

Designed for all levels from beginner to advanced, this fun-filled, yet rigorous yoga class is just what the doctor (or parent) ordered. Students will learn basic poses, breathing techniques, and flow series that improve core strength, flexibility, alignment, injury prevention/rehabilitation, focus, stress relief, and overall peace of mind. Fun movement-based games are included to promote creative problem solving, trust, and teamwork.

Tuition and Refund Policy

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required with the registration form at the end of this book. The balance of the fee is due upon receipt of invoice. No classes will be held on July 5 and Week 4 will not be prorated. The School Lunch plan is $30/week. There will be an additional $10 charge for each class or schedule change. We regret that after June 1, we cannot refund money for class changes or for absences due to change in plans, family vacation, or illness. Makeup classes are not available. If insufficient enrollment requires the cancellation of a course, all deposits and fees associated with that course will be refunded.
