Anna Swanson, a junior at The College of William & Mary, will be conducting research in Cape Town, South Africa for her Honors Fellowship next year entitled "School-feeding programs in Cape Town: A Key to Sustainable Development and Community Engagement." School-feeding programs have become crucial development programs to improve food security and school attendance. The urban programs, however, do not receive much attention and thus very little is known about their effects on community development, an important part of sustainable development. Anna, who majors in Africana Studies, will be working with several different schools interviewing both administrators and participants trying to understand the different program designs, ultimately correlating project design and community engagement. Anna hopes to work in food security and sustainable development in Southern Africa upon graduation. A link to her fellowship page can be found here. Photo courtesy of William & Mary.
