Lower School Chaplain Tim Gavin has been selected to serve as The Episcopal Academy's next Head Chaplain. He will replace Reverend Jim Squire who is retiring in June after 38 years.
"I am truly humbled and honored to serve the role of Head Chaplain," says Chaplain Gavin. "I look forward to continuing to help our students and all members of our community form their own unique, spiritual identities, and in creating a safe and loving space for our entire community to gather through our Chapel program."
In a letter to the community, Greville Haslam Head of School, Dr. T.J. Locke, said "We had an extremely strong candidate pool, and we believe that Tim is the best person to continue to build upon the unique legacy of Episcopal's head chaplaincy."
Chaplain Gavin leads Episcopal's partnership with St. Marc's School in Haiti and St. James School in Philadelphia. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2013. Chaplain Gavin will also serve as the Chair of the Religion Department. He has been a member of the faculty for 28 years and has taught every grade and worked as an Upper School Form Dean.
"Tim has already served as an invaluable member of our community for nearly three decades. During our search, there was an incredible outpouring of positive feedback and stories about Tim's kindness, generosity, humility, mentorship, and most importantly, selflessness," says Dr. Locke. "I know our community will continue to rely on Tim for support and guidance for many years to come."
Chaplain Gavin will assume his new role on July 1, 2016.
