Winners Selected for 2016 Dora Khayatt Music Prizes

Four winners have been selected for this year's Dora Khayatt music awards.

The musicians performed their winning pieces in Chapel on Tuesday, February 9.

The 2016 winners include: Caitlin Jorgensen '19, Alex Oliva '19, Felicia Zhu '17, and Nico Christianson '17.

Caitlin performed A La Albeniz, by Rodion Shchedrin, on the piano. Alex passionately sang Michael Jackson's hit "I Want You Back" and then played and sang a song he composed called "Right or Wrong." Felicia Zhu performed Fredric Chopin's Etude in B Minor Opus 25, No. 10. Nico wrapped up the performances with Chopin's Ballade No. 3, Op. 47, in Ab Major.

26 Episcopal musicians auditioned for the prestigious award. Four judges outside of the EA community selected the winners.

The Dora Khayatt awards in music and fine arts were established in 1990 in memory of Dora Khayatt. She was an artist and the wife of the late John Plant, former Chairman of The Episcopal Academy Classics Department.
