Middle School Musicians Perform in PMEA String Fest

Five Middle School musicians took part in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) String Fest.

The two events brought together advanced orchestral musicians from District 12 for a full-day of intensive rehearsals which culminated in an evening concert.

Sixth graders Akira Heath and Lydia Nawrocki participated in the 5/6 Fest on Monday, February 27. 8th graders Grace Barton, Matthew Habtezgi, and Christopher Lo played in the 7/8 Fest Held on Thursday, March 16.

Students worked with renowned conductors and musicians Ms. Miku Shiota-Rosenbaum and Mr. Gary White.

"Both concerts were a great success, and these young musicians found the experience both challenging and rewarding," said Orchestra Director James Finegan.

Akira Heath shared, "Thank you for having me at String Fest. It was hard work but it all payed off at the end."

"The student enjoyed making new musical friends, and the opportunity to perform with such a large and advanced ensemble was an unforgettable experience," said Finegan.
