She qualified for the race by posting a 5:12 time in the 1600m event at the DELCO Championships in May.

"I was so excited to have the opportunity to compete at Nationals this year," said Caitlin. "I am grateful to the EA coaches for helping me reach my goal of qualifying, and then preparing me for the race. I really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot about racing strategy."

Girls' Varsity Track and Field Coach John Goens attended the New Balance meet. "It was fabulous to see Caitlin achieve her goal of reaching the Nationals' Freshman Mile event," said Goens. "She represented our athletic program and school well in one of the best meets in the country and our team and coaching staff are quite proud of her!"

Goens credits Caitlin's hours of hard work and training for her success.

"Caitlin is a rising star in our sport, and we're excited to see what she'll accomplish next," said Goens.
