May 2006
On May 22, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously
to approve our final land development plan for the new campus.
This approval opens the way for us to obtain the remaining permits
necessary to begin work this summer and keeps us on target to
open the new campus in the fall of 2008.
The importance of this approval cannot be overstated. It is
the culmination of more than five years of work by our master
planning committee, architects, legal team, faculty and staff,
and Board of Trustees. At the conclusion of Monday’s meeting,
several of the supervisors spoke of the professionalism and
expertise of all of those involved with this project.
With this approval, and the capital campaign already halfway
to our $90 million goal, we are clearly on our way to Newtown
Square.
April 2006
At the April 13th meeting of the Newtown Township Planning
Commission, the group voted unanimously to move the final
land development plan for the Newtown Campus on to the Board
of Supervisors for final approval.
November 2005
On Nov. 28th, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors granted
approval of our Preliminary Land Development Plan for the
new campus.
We will now move on to finalizing the building designs and
satisfying the other conditions precedent to submission of
a Final Land Development Plan for approval.
For more detailed information on the hearing, see this story
published by the News of Delaware County on Wednesday, November
30th.
October 2005
From the Head of School:
Last Tuesday, October 18th, the Newtown Township Planning
Commission voted unanimously to recommend to the township's
board of supervisors approval of Episcopal's preliminary development
plan for the Newtown Square campus. Although it is early in
the process, we are pleased with our reception and the recommendation
of the commission.
You may recall that the zoning classification of the land
is residential and that a non-profit school is permitted only
by special exception. Two years ago, the Newtown Township
Zoning Hearing Board granted our request for that special
exception, which was the first step in the approval process.
Prior to Tuesday's action, the Delaware County Planning Commission
favorably reviewed our preliminary development plan.
Our design team of professionals has completed the schematic
design phase of the buildings and is into design development.
We still have a number of levels of approval ahead of us,
but we are on our way!
