As a Net Head or Tete de Net/ Internaute, I continue to be overwhelmed by the quantity of resources for FL Teaching. It is time-consuming to visit scattered sites in search of specific resources or topics. Despite the potential of the Internet and the impressive General FL Web lists available, I have wished for sites which link resources directly with FL themes and projects.

This is why I have created my two-part Home Page.

The first section, the FL Studies site, is a cluster of selected FL Internet resources in each of four languages, all with specific projects, themes and units for use in K-12 classrooms. By clicking below on the Putnam Home Page, you will find resources for use with French, Spanish, German and Italian classes.

As a help for colleagues, many clusters offer a clickable link to a teaching activities section, where I list suggestions for a number of topics, themes, projects and strategies useful for French and Spanish classes such as ours here at EA. I hope you will select a project, such as a news broadcast or an illustrated book of poetry then use and adapt these clustered resources for all classes.

In the second section, I have written an Online Course for Using Technology with K-12 FL Classes. Although not a Computer expert, I am offering to help FL colleagues gain mastery of the Internet in specific ways. I show what's out there and have created an Online course to encourage all of us to use technology critically and creatively with an eye to the National Standards for FL Teaching.

Please e-mail me with suggestions as well as with your comments and questions.

Click on General Resources to learn about key types of general resources available on the Internet, and to learn how to take advantage of the interactive uses of the Internet. Scroll down on the General Resources Page to find specific projects for e-mail and for telecommunication projects to adapt for FL classes. There is also a list of sources containing articles about Teaching Using the Net.
