Le Net Kiosque: an extensive list of Francophone Magazines and Newspapers. The site person is no longer updating the page but the current links are most useful. Scroll to catégories including Art and Culture, Science, Society,General and Local newspapers, and Computer magazines in French. For a class project, 1. assign each group a category to research. Students write up then give orally a short summary of the number and types of Magazines in category. They should describe, in French or English, two favorites and least favorites with reasons. 2. For a different project for Advanced classes, the class selects one category; each group selects ONE magazine with online Archives. Each group presents a general analysis of their choice before selecting one article to assign their classmates. Group should prepare a short summary in French as well as French-English glossary to accompany their choice of article.

CYBERPRESSE: On-Line French Press for Young People

Premiers Pas Sur Internet: an on-line magazine and center in French for youngsters and early teenagers. Click on bande dessiné and on cinéma to tell your favorite comic or film and read others' choices; scroll to the bottom of list to try the dictionnaire and other sites. A wealth of topics, all for young French-speakers.

Cyberpresse: an excellent On-line publication in French written by young people from Quebec. Click on jeux et blagues for cheesy jokes and riddles sent in by kids; and on menu to the left for short writings on every-day life, foods, top news, sports and more.

Remue-Meninges/Jeux from the Bonjour de France site, this series of on-line games offers "find the 10 errors" and other games graded by language learning level. Copy and paste each edition of Bonjour de France onto your hard drive for easy access or note that each new edition comes out twice yearly. For an effective short reading activity for my beginners, I copy the 10 erreurs and la solution; I paste the 2 together on one sheet then print out class copies. In pairs or singly, students read the French then circle the errors.
Apprendissage de Bonjour de France Another super section from magazine Bonjour de France for language learning activities! First, a series of reading selections arranged by language level (2 each for beginners/elementary/intermediates/advanced); each level offers comprehension questions in French. Assign selection and test to students. Second, scroll down to access grammaire en pointillés. Students should read the grammar points then click on ..tester vos connaissances for a 10 question on-line quiz. Super! Use these activities on-line in lab or print out class copies. La Page des Jeunes: a delightful site for young students of French with many subjects to charm and interest all ages! Click on a range of topics including Histoires et Chansons, Sciences, Animaux, et Viens Jouer. Share your own email comments and information for future additions, and copy pages to share with classes without direct Internet access.
Planète Internet: monthly on-line magazine with interesting articles, a forum for discussion and archives of previous editions geared to HS and college students and cybernauts of all ages.
Jeunes.Net a delightful on-line journal in French from the Library of Coaticook, P.Quebec by and for youngsters 9 -12 years old. Stories for different holidays and topics and short introduction to comics (BDs) including Tintin, Asterix and Garfield.
Chez Roxie a site for Teens with super opening graphics and a menu way at bottom of site! Click first on on arrow to bookmark links to other teen sites then click on Menu for a huge choice of topics!
Le Nouvel Afrique Asie read this informative on-line monthly for timely articles and information on all third World French-speaking cultures.
Projet de Livre a L'ecole Hamelin scroll to bottom and click on aiguille ART then on projets then on projets de realisation (there is a glitch, so you must access this way). You will link with an On-line book written by Paul Benoit's 5th and 6th graders at Hamelin school in Quebec province. Well worth the effort to log on to it! Make a lexique for your students then read the book to your class. Your students may illustrate then change some of the challenges Charlie faces, for a new book in French!
Antoine et Amélie a fun and popular On-Line magazine from 2 Paris teens for the 12-18 year old set. Many sections including a Forum, Sports, favorite passtimes and more. Useful for high-interest topics geared to ados.
Electricite de France (EDF) Le Net magazine: This excellent on-line magazine put out by Electricite de France offers articles in French on topics such as Renewable Energies, The 50th Anniversary of EDF, Electric Autos. Click on Archives to pull up additional articles from prior issues. Assign one topic per group (Electonic Autos includes 9 articles) for an excellent project dealing with the environment.

Pagina Magazine de L'Edition: Pagina offers online discussion of books and the current literary scene in France. The split-screen text lets you scroll down and click on the magazine for book reviews; selections for short excerpts of novels, biographies and essays; and on services for dates and focus of upcoming events in the Parisian area. Click on sommaire for selections from the latest issue, including interviews that intermediate and advanced students might enjoy acting out.
Cinopsis:Magazine Belge du cinéma International: click on ridicule for a photo gallery related to films; research films shown in courses; click on sites favoris for sites in French from Canada, France and elsewhere dealing with French cinema; and find ample sites for spoofing and for celebrating the visual arts.
Ecran Noir:le Ciné Zine: an informative online magazine in French with articles about the French film industry that appeal to our students. Scroll down to topics such as Depardieu, Deneuve, and les stars françaises aux USA. Click on archive for short sketches in French of recent films from many countries. Go to sortis en salles for a menu of current offerings in France, Belgium or Québec. Each site lists in French the film; the star; and 3 lines about the film. Excellent for projects and discussions!
