1. Your class is set to go on line to research a topic. For students new to the Internet, keep your plan simple with ample time to finish in ONE class period. Assign one or more sites to research and specify the information expected. Here is my colleague Laura Cantor's clear and successful plan for a minivisit lasting 40 class minutes.

Mlle. Laura Cantor's Lesson

I Form French at EA (7th Grade) je m’appelle __________

Travail dirigé sur le Web

Today in class, you will plan a trip to Paris using the tourist information on the Web. You will turn in this sheet at the end of class. Therefore, it is important that you work carefully and that you get as much done as you can. In this exercise, you will:
pick a hotel
pick a museum
pick a monument to visit
plan out the subway route that you will take to travel between these places

Follow the directions carefully

1. click on the Netscape Navigateur icon

YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES NOW:

2A. Go to the EA home page, type in the following address: http://paris.org.:80/navigeur.html
or

2B. click on to departments, then to Languages for Putnam's Home page. Select the French Page. Scroll down and click on Simulated Trips and scroll down to Paris trips. Click on Paris Séjour Reservation or on Pages de Paris.

3.At your site, scroll down until you see the category "hôtels" and click on it. Paris is divided into 20 neighborhoods, called "arrondissements". You want to stay in the 1st Arrondissment.

Click on the number one and choose a hotel from the list. You will get more information about the hotel by clicking on the name of the hotel. The red dot with the "M" in it will tell you what the closest metro stop is to your hotel.

2.Here are specific Lesson plans for Trips to many FL places and an excellent introduction to Web Activities from the California FL Project's site Internet Activities for FL Classes found in Lauren Rosen's excellent Teaching on the Web site. Click on Language Specific Activities then on the title immediately below the introduction. Assign this site for reading then adapt for your classes. Return to Lauren Rosen's site to examine language specific activities too.
