First we RESEARCHED!
We read a book about Pennsylvania and CHOSE FACTS of interest to us as researchers. Then we MADE NOTES in our own words.
Next, we learned how to write WELL-ORGANIZED PARAGRAPHS! We wrote TOPIC SENTENCES to introduce the reader to all the DETAILS of our paragraphs. We worked with our teacher and classmates to EDIT and REVISE our FIRST DRAFT writing. |
We wrote our FINAL DRAFTS in our best handwriting. We were very careful to PROOFREAD to make sure our paragraphs made SENSE - and had correct PUNCTUATION and SPELLING.
| We drew colorful ILLUSTRATIONS to go with our writing. Our final drafts were almost complete! |
We drew MAPS of Pennsylvania and showed some major CITIES. We placed a star on the CAPITAL, and a smiley face our HOME TOWNS.
We drew the COMPASS ROSE and named our neighboring STATES!
| We used brochures to create a COLLAGE all about fun places to VISIT in Pennsylvania! |
We each followed a
CHECKLIST that we called our PAPER TEACHER! It showed all the steps we needed to do to complete the project.
By reading it, we didn’t need to ask which STEP to take next.
We CHECKED our work and put all the pages in ORDER.
| When our PA PICTURE BOOKS were completed, we felt pretty proud of ourselves. We hope you take time to do some research too! |
