Journals are peiodicals in which the articles are about less popular, but specific, subjects, and the authors of the articles may be professionals in their fields of study.

Newspapers are published daily and weekly and carry articles about current events. Reporters write articles in newspapers.

Libraries often shelve periodicals in a special place in the library and tend to keep current issues only. Less current articles are available online from subscription databases.
