What is a subscription database?

A subcription database is an online reference resource. The Episcopal Academy subscribes to many databases that enable library users to do research using a computer from home or school.

EA subscribes to online encyclopedias, periodical databases, subject directories to websites, dictionaries, thesaures and works cited generators. Click HERE to visit our online resources.

Note, the Pennsylvania library systems also subscribes to online reference resources. Those databases are available free from school computers but require a library card number when using them from home. It is also necessary to access PA subscription databases via your public libraries homepage when using home computers. If you are on a school computer you may click here to visit Access PA.

Generally, a user name and password are not needed when accessing a subscription database from school. However, when using the database from home a user name and password are required. Those passwords are noted in your student handbook. If you can not find your handbook, please contact your librarian.
