Eric Gardner

I am from a family of 16 that know what each others’ needs.
I’m from the home of Chester where my ancestors planted
The roots of my family.
I am from a chain of family with voices of whistling horns.
With the smell of candy yams from the oven all through the house.
I am from the beatings that my gramps gave me when I jump off the
Kitchen counter.
I’m from the Clorox bleach in the water of the dishes.
I am from the warm Tide detergent smell in my clothes.

I from the “Never say you can’t do it till you try it” saying.
I am from the church and Family and Aunts’ sloppy kisses.
I am from laughter and jokes that make my smile bigger!
I am from my mother’s heart and soul that
Shows me love every day.
I am from the Blue Magic hair grease I put in my hair.
I am from the Orange color.
From the swimming pool that cooled us on a hot day.
I’m from a giant family tree that reaches over the clouds.
I am from the cook outs and birthdays on every day
Of every Month.
I am from the hundreds of albums that lie in the basement.
I’m from the staying up until 4 on school days.
From knowledge and wisdom that was given to me,
And that was over the limits.
I’m from a dream once I will live one day.
This is where I’m from.
