African American Stereotypes in the Media Boundaries

Like a wise man once said “Don’t judge me before you get to know me”.

When I went to Baltimore for my last day at Gesu with friends before we departed  into different roads of success, the speakers and  my teachers Mrs. Rouse and Ms. Weatherly were talking about African

Americans how they were discriminated against just because the color of their skin. While we were in the Great Wax Museum in Baltimore, they took us through the Middle Passage, Lynching, and then the last part which was the statues of great spiritual or nonviolent leaders and those who contributed to the Civil Rights Movement like Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Like other Civil Rights Activist, King dreamed that his four kids would not be discriminated against because of the color of their skin, but would be respected for how they present themselves in the world. If it wasn’t for people like him or Rosa Parks, we would be still fighting for our rights and still be sitting in the back of the bus.
