2011-2012 Season Recap

Under the leadership of senior co-captains Thomas Cusack and Marco Testaiuti the Episcopal Academy Wrestling Team enjoyed a successful season finishing 9-5 overall and 3-2 in the league for third place in the Inter-Ac. The team had two signature victories this season, staging a dramatic come from behind win over Interboro High School and hanging on for a solid win over rival Malvern Prep. The team also was runner up in two individual tournaments, The Cadet Invitational and The Radnor Holiday Classic. Many individuals placed in a number of tournaments over the course of the season including Senior Thomas Cusack’s sixth place at the prestigious Clinch Gear Prep Slam in Atlanta, Ga. and culminating with 7 place winners at the Pa. Independent School Wrestling Tournament which was held Episcopal. Senior Marco Testaiuti took home an Eighth place medal and junior Jacob Lowe took seventh. The five who placed in the top six qualifying them for the National Prep tournament include, 6th place medalists sophomore Cody Russell and freshman AJ Cutrufello, fifth place winner sophomore Julio del Peon, third place medalist sophomore Anthony Feliziani and PAISAA runner up junior Luke Brooman. The athletes began the season with a challenge to do the work every day that would enable them to continue to improve and lay the ground work for the future growth of the wrestling program at EA. They each rose to the challenge and their success as a team and as individuals is the evidence.
